New Book Release: The Unofficial Oral History of Planet of the Apes

At last I can announce a project I’ve been waiting to reveal for a few years now. I’ve helped Ed Gross update his book Planet of the Apes Revisited, which has been THE Apes bible for the past quarter-century or so, and it was my honor to do so. Ed’s book, co-authored with Larry Landsman and Joe Russo, has now been expanded and revised as a two-book set titled The Unofficial Oral History of Planet of the Apes.

My involvement: I wrote about 30,000 words for the second volume, exploring every novel, short story, comic book, and video game set in the Planet of the Apes franchise from 1968 to present. (You could say I wrote the ape-endix.) My congratulations to Ed, Larry, and Joe on this latest edition of their amazing book, and my thanks to Ed for bringing me along for the ride. I’m honored to have been invited into the mix.

The two-volume Unofficial Oral History of Planet of the Apes is coming very soon from Bearmanor Media Books and will be available wherever books are sold. Learn more at Ed’s blog.
