To your left is a powerful drawing by comics artist Ray Alma that aligns perfectly with Captain America’s long history, in Marvel Comics’ comic books and films, of fighting Nazis, hatemongers, and fascists in the name of protecting the core values and integrity of the United States. Ray’s artwork illustrates what the majority of Americans, and pretty much the entire rest of the world, are currently thinking. (Be sure to click on the image to see a larger version.)
If only Cap had been around to punch the orange shitgibbon in 2016. He might have saved this country from descending into four years of incompetence, corruption, and a complete absence of leadership during a deadly pandemic, with white supremacists and idiots infesting the White House and embarrassing the nation daily in the eyes of the entire world. But that horrific nightmare will end in January 2020 when Trump and his ridiculous family will crawl back under the bridges from which they’ve spent four years trolling the world.
Thank you, Ray Alma. Thank you, Captain America. And thank you, the rest of the world, for having patience as we take out the trash. We know you’ve lost your faith in us in the past four years, and for very good reason. But after January, maybe we can begin to earn your respect again. It’ll be a long, uphill battle after all the damage Trump’s ineptitude, criminal behavior, and astounding dishonesty have caused, and perhaps we’re already past the point of no return. America has undeniably ceased to be great. But maybe, just maybe, we can become heroes again. We’ve been the villains now for too long.
