You Are Traveling Through Another Dimension…

Here’s a section of my DVD shelf that has been neglected for too long. I may soon have to do a rewatch. That’s all eleven seasons of all four iterations of The Twilight Zone, plus the pilot “The Time Element” (from Wetinghouse Desilu Playhouse), Twilight Zone: The Movie, Twilight Zone: Rod Serling’s Lost Classics, the Tower of Terror film based on Twilight Zone: The Ride, and the TZ-adjacent The Night Gallery.

The Twilight Zone was my mother’s favorite series of all time, though Star Trek, Planet of the Apes, Babylon 5, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Monk, and the film A Christmas Story came close. She owned all of the DVDs, yet she was so devoted to Twilight Zone that even when edited versions aired on TV with commercial breaks, she felt obligated to watch them, too.

When Mom passed away, I inherited her DVDs… which was fitting not only because I’d grown up a Twilight Zone fan due to her love for the show, but also since I’d bought them for her. 🙂 They now hold a proud place on my shelves. Sadly, I never found her DVDs of Alfred Hitchcock Presents, or they’d be right next to these. I do have a boxset of The Outer Limits sitting offscreen to the right, though, so that’ll have to suffice.

Sadly, she never got to see seasons 10 and 11, which aired months after she passed away in 2019. But I bought that DVD set anyway, in her honor. They… weren’t great seasons, admittedly. But she’d have loved them just because they were new Twilight Zone
